About

I’m Carlo Karam, a doctoral candidate at Grenoble INP, working in the MODUS team (Modeling and Optimal Decisions for Uncertain Systems) at GIPSA-lab, co-advised by Mirko Fiacchini and Matteo Tacchi-Bénard. My research focuses on characterizing probabilistic reachable and invariant sets for stochastic model predictive control (SMPC). My work leverages convex and polynomial optimization to estimate these sets accurately and efficiently, enabling practical SMPC implementations.

Before my PhD, I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the American University of Beirut (2016–2020), followed by a Master’s in Mechatronic Engineering at Politecnico di Torino (2020–2022). I then worked as a Junior Control Systems Engineer at Dumarey Softronix (2022–2024), where I focused on MPC for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) in diesel engines.

You can check out my CV for more details.
